Chandigarh: The skill of the stenography test will be conducted in the following way-
- The matter and the solution for the question will be exchanged only via the computers.
- The nature of the skill should be qualifying. The candidates will have to be present for the test. A dictation of 10 minutes in the mentioned language will be conducted. English or Hindi is the prescribed language of conduct. The speed set for the dictation will be 100 words per minute. This is required to be maintained by those who wish to appear in the post of Grade ‘C’ Stenographer. For those candidates who are appearing to apply in Grade ‘D’ Stenographer, the speed will be 80 words per minute.
- The time for the dictation and all other tests conducted via computer falls under the following category:
- For Grade ‘C’ Stenographer the dictation in English will be set for 40 minutes and Hindi for 55 minutes.
- For Grade ‘D’ Stenographer the dictation in English will continue for 50 minutes and Hindi for 65 minutes.
- There will be no permission granted for exempting any of the above mentioned tests.
- If the candidate has not mentioned the name of the preferred language while applying, the authority will consider the medium of communication as English. When this is the case, he or she will not be permitted to change the medium of language on the day of examination.
- The skill test will be conducted at the Regional or Sub- Regional Commission’s office.
- VH candidates will have to transcribe the matter in Shorthand English within 75 minutes or in Hindi within 100 minutes. This is designed for the post of Grade ‘C’ Stenographer. For Grade ‘D’ Stenographer, the shorthand test in English and Hindi will last for 70 and 95 minutes respectively.
